When the Riverside School for the Arts opens its doors, it will chart new academic and artistic directions for the Inland Empire with its new approaches to teaching and learning at the community college level and its dedication to creating graduates who are team players with highly sought-after skills in the arts and new media. RSA will have an instructional design that will produce individuals with the soft skills needed to be successful in any field and the desire to excel in their chosen field.
RSA is an innovative curriculum project of Riverside City College. Its programs complement, enhance and expand on the existing degrees and certificates offered at the College. Students may enroll in any individual courses, certificates, or degree programs they choose. RSA programs lead to achievement in the arts and the enterprise of arts with an emphasis on the practical skills needed to be financially successful in the extensive new areas found in the arts as they converge with new media.
Instruction will be project-based and arts-centered with a focus on media arts, design and production. General education classes will be offered using an arts integration model. Imagine a school where you could learn about the principles of physics and math in the context of the arts. Using computer-generated visual effects, interactive media, drawing, film, design, music composition, sculpture or metal fabrication, students will develop reading, writing, listening, and math skills that will make them desirable employees in any field.
Strong ties to the entertainment and multimedia industries enhance the practical aspects of the program and guarantee that students will receive a world-class education that matches projected employment opportunities. RSA will offer an extraordinary education for talented young artists, at affordable, community college prices, and train them as conceptual and critical thinkers, communicators, and resourceful learners.
